I augusti i år dömde en amerikansk domstol företaget Monsanto att betala ett skadestånd på 289 miljoner USD till jordbruksarbetaren Dewayne Johnson som förgiftats av den aktiva substansen i deras växtgift Roundup (glyfosat). Han hade ådragit sig dödlig Non-Hodkins Lymfom cancer. Därmed hade domstolen fastslagit att Roundup är klart cancerogent och att det bl.a. orsakar denna typ av cancer. Sedan introduktionen av Roundup 1973 har förekomsten av Non-Hodkins Lymfom ökat med 100 procent i USA. Utöver dess cancerogenisitet har Roundup även en rad andra mycket skadliga miljö- och förgiftningseffekter.
