Spikproteinet ökar risken för pulmonell hypertension (PAH) 

De flesta är idag bekanta med begreppen ”spikprotein” och ”ACE2-receptorer” och har kanske fått klart för sig att spikproteinet från virusets yttre kapsel öppnar upp och tar sig in i den angripna kropps-cellen via denna ”receptor” ACE2, för att föröka sig inne i kroppscell-en. Men normalt är inte ACE2 en ”receptor” utan ett enzym på kroppscellernas membran, som spjälkar av en aminosyra från angio-tensin II. Denna molekyl, angiotensin II, är väldigt viktig för reglering av blodtrycket. ACE betyder just detta: ”angiotensin converting enzyme”.
