A week later, he was followed by Jeff Bezos, who flew in a Blue Origin spacecraft to just above the Von Karman line, an altitude of 62 miles (100 km), the worldwide standard for the start of space. Around the same time, on July 23, Elon Musk announced that SpaceX was given the highly prized contract to launch NASA’s Europa Clipper mission to Jupiter by 2024.
