WATCH: Recent Ground Footage from Syria Shows the Total Devastation of Permanent War

Human suffering is in no short supply on this twisted littler planet of ours, and while most everyone today has their eyes on the emerging coronavirus crisis, I was just reminded that some catastrophes have become a permanent background to everyday life.

A report issued late last year found that war on terror, which began almost 20 years ago, has officially killed over 801,000 people (and counting) and has cost U.S. taxpayers over $6.4 trillion. These numbers are so astronomical and so difficult to conceptualize that they tend to lose their impact. It’s just too boggling for the mind.

As Yemen Starves, International Aid Agencies Play Politics With Food — Covert Geopolitics – July 6, 2019

by Ahmed Abdulkareem: Yemeni authorities are accusing some international aid agencies of playing politics with food aid, correctly pointing out that financiers of the organizations are the very same countries participating in the war on Yemen.

TAIZ, YEMEN — A recent Saudi Coalition airstrike on the home of a prominent Yemeni businessman in Taiz destroyed not only a family home but also the hopes of the many Yemenis who rely on the generosity of philanthropic donors, as international aid agencies become increasingly beholden to the political interests of their largest benefactors.

UN Sent 24,000 Tons of Infested and Rotten “Aid” to Starving Yemenis — The Anti-Media – June 28, 2019

Written by Randi Nord

(GPA— Since 2015, Yemen’s Customs and Consumer Protection has had to either send back or seize over 24,000 tons of aid determined unfit for consumption sent from the United Nations World Food Program (WFP). Among the “aid” included 15,000 tons of supplementary food for pregnant women and medicine.

On November 6, Yemen’s Port Authority rejected and sent back a vessel from the World Food Program containing 10,000 tons of white wheat. After inspection, authorities noticed the wheat was infested with live insects. A similar incident occurred in February when authorities inspected a WFP shipment containing 96,000 bags wheat was not stamped with an expiration or production date.

Another particularly notable incident took place in May of 2019. At this time, Yemeni authorities found dead insects inside 8 million kilograms of wheat. Throughout June, authorities were forced to reject nearly 130,000 bags of white beans that were either wet, rotten, or infested with dead insects.

A UK-based charity says more than 84,700 children under the age of five may have starved to death in Yemen since the Saudi regime and a coalition of its allies launched a brutal war on the already-impoverished nation over three years ago.

Using data compiled by the UN, Save the Children calculated in a Tuesday report the mortality rate for untreated cases of Severe Acute Malnutrition among Yemeni kids between April 2015 and October 2018.

“We are horrified that some 85,000 children in Yemen may have died because of extreme hunger since the war began. For every child killed by bombs and bullets, dozens are starving to death and it’s entirely preventable,” said Tamer Kirolos, the aid group’s Yemen director……..Read more:  PressTV.com
